The former Centre for Geriatric Medicine at Baumgarten was built in 1900 and originally consisted of six pavilions, two of which are already replaced by a spacious new building. In the course of construction phase 2, the Pavillion 1, which is protected as a historic landmark, underwent a comprehensive refurbishment.

The pavilion used to house a military barrack and was later integrated into the geriatric centre at Baumgarten. Now it will be rededicated as an administrative building, housing the local district administration as well as the IT department of the Vienna Hospital Association (KAV). In an effort to heighten both attractiveness as well as barrier-free accessibility, the entrance area was refurbished accordingly. Furthermore, the building was equipped with new elevators. The building envelope, being a main concern regarding historic preservation, was renovated as well.
