Description:
The Hospital North in Vienna is one of the key-parts to the Vienna-hospital strategy 2030 (“Wiener Spitalskonzept 2030”). It transforms the old industrial area near the Danube River into a valuable healthcare area. The hospital has 779 beds and 218.333 m² total floor area. The hospital includes the following departments:

  • General and visceral surgery
  • Anaesthesia and intensive care
  • Gynaecology and obstetrics medicine
  • Cardiovascular surgery
  • Internal medicine including gastroenterology und geriatric acute care
  • Cardiology
  • Paediatrics and adolescent medicine
  • Child and adolescent psychiatry
  • Emergency care
  • Orthopaedics and traumatology
  • Psychiatry
  • Pulmonology
  • Thoracic surgery
And the following institutes:

The project also contains:
Kindergarten The kindergarten has a total floor area of 2.000 m² and is divided into two groups for small children, one integration group, three family groups and one atelier. Cell and tissue laboratory The main objective of the facility is to provide a laboratory infrastructure for tissue engineering for the use in regenerative medicine (recreating lost tissue or organs from patients’ own cells). The design is subject to the Good manufacturing practice – GMP standards. Pharmacy The Hospital´s Pharmacy Store is the key facility in Vienna North Hospital´s supply chain and distribution for pharmaceutical, medical and surgical inventories. The Pharmacy Store functions as a distribution warehouse for all inventories required for patient care services. Its design, structure, construction, flow, location and built, is under the rules of Good Distribution Practice (GDP) requirements. The Pharmacy Store has a total floor area of 2.800 m². Automated Transport Systems (ATS) for Healthcare logistics The automated guided vehicle system solutions provide automatic and punctual goods-transport within the hospital. The system is consisting of 42 vehicles with a magnetic-point referencing for navigation. The System provides the transport for food, pharmaceutical products, consumables, linen and waste. Rescue station The rescue station has a total floor area of 1.400 m². It has the facilities for 12 vehicles and about 20 people stationed. Garage/parking deck The parking deck is providing a capacity for a number of 1.124 cars. The parking facilities are consisting of both underground parking garages and above-ground parking building. Other services provided within the Hospital North Vienna are: Within the Hospital building there are also a Simulation and Medical Training Center, an Event Center, Pastoral care, a hospital school, various hospital-related social facilities and the administrative offices. Services offered for the public: A supermarket, a drugstore, shop for orthopedic products, a magazine shop, a bakery and cafe, a flower shop, a dry cleaning, and a public pharmacy.

  6. Contract monitoring: around 200 construction companies and suppliers, around 90 individual consultants

  7. Procurement management: support and supervision of about 250 tenders (construction works, technical building equipment, furniture, healthcare equipment), as follows:
    • Advising the investor on the tender dossier, draft contract, procedures and forms,
    • Coordination and determination of the quantities and specifications of the medical equipment. Determining costs and proposing the most economical solution for medical technology equipment to the client. Review of medical technology in line with the range of medical services.
    • Controlling technical specifications
    • Launching tenders
    • Support to and supervision of tender evaluation assistance in contracting the awarded contractors (around 220)procedure
